Exploring Plakes Area
Plakes area is one of the oldest and most picturesque neighborhoods of Skiathos town.
Following the alleys behind the old port you will find yourself wandering among charming white washed houses with colorful doors and windows. You will see cats resting in the shade of blooming bougainvilleas and you will enjoy the stunning view of the old port behind small gardens decorated with flowers and traditional old wooden tables and chairs. It is like a short time travel back in the old times through narrow alleys and hidden pathways. The perfect place to let yourself get lost.

Plane spotting
Skiathos airport with its very short and narrow beach front runaway is very popular among plane spotting fans. Take your camera, stand at the spots where the signs suggest is safe to be and watch the planes flying only a few meters above your head.
Walk a dog or even better adopt one
Skiathos is the land of the pet lovers. Stray cats and dogs are taken good care of from local people and visitors of the island. In every corner around you, you will see plates filled with food and water for stray pets. If you are a dog lover yourself take a short ride up to the dog shelter where during the morning you can walk a dog around the area among the trees on the picturesque mountain. If you want you can even adopt one and take it back with you creating an unbreakable bond with our beautiful island.

Walk through the beautiful Mandraki to the charming north beaches
An experience you should not miss while on the island is the unique walk through the forest to the beautiful north beaches. We suggest you wake up early in the morning and reach bus stop number 23 (Mandraki). Then take a walk through the unspoiled pine forest under the shade of the trees. It will take you around 30 minutes to reach the stunning beach of Elias, one of the most beautiful beaches of the island. Xerxis and Agistros are also beautiful nearby beaches that you can walk to from the same path. Too many beaches, too little time 🙂
A night under the stars
Wondering how to spend a night out? How about a visit to the open air cinema?

Sunrises, sunsets and full moon nights
An experience you cant miss while on the island it’s to take some time to unplug and see carefully around you nature at its best.
Wake up early in the morning to watch the beautiful sunrise from your balcony at Aphrodite studios or from Megali Ammos beach. It is a very special feeling to watch the sun slowly rising over Skiathos town turning the night darkness into a beautiful bright summer light.
Sunsets can also be magical as long as you are on the right spot. Agia Eleni beach is the perfect place to enjoy the end of a relaxing summer day.
And last but not least, summer full moon nights. It is almost impossible to describe the magic of those nights. We suggest you experience it yourself from the cosiness of our balconies.
Swim with the swans
Believe it or not in some popular beaches in Skiathos island like Koukounaries or Maratha you may bump into swans while swimming. Yes, swan it is! If you are lucky enough you may even see a black one swimming near by. They are used to crowded waters and they are not afraid of fellow swimmers. So enjoy their company and remember to leave them some space so they can enjoy the crystal waters as well.
