The story of Aphrodite, our small family business, sets back in the 70’s.
Nick’s parents built a small wooden villa in a privileged spot right on the lovely beach of Megali Ammos, in Skiathos island.
His father, Costas (“Gus” as his artist painting signature) Kantarakias was working for the National Bank of Greece and that meant that the family had to travel all around Greece at that time.
The villa was their summer retreat back in their beloved birthplace.
While the airport of Skiathos was being built Costas was kindly asked to rent his beautiful villa during winter time to one of the supervisors of the construction.
Later on, when the small airport started operating, a high demand for short term summer rentals arose.
Holidaymakers discovering the stunning island of Skiathos instantly fell in love with it and kept coming back.
It was at that point that Costas and his dear wife, Sofia, started warmly welcoming travelers from other countries and different cultures, offering them “a home away from home”.
Greek hospitality and tradition are our fundamental principles since then.
Philoxenia runs in the family.
